Why it matters who you learn from
Choosing a yoga teacher is an act of trust. You are inviting someone to guide your body, your breath and your inner life. It's worth knowing who that person is, and how deeply they have prepared for the privilege of teaching you. It may surprise you, that there is no legal requirement to hold any particular qualification to teach yoga in the UK. I want you to know exactly what I have done to prepare to teach you.
300 Hours. 18 Months. A Practice That Changed How I Live.
I completed my 300 hour teacher training at Yoga Kula, Leeds — one of the most respected yoga schools in the north of England. The course took eighteen months to complete.
That duration was not incidental. Eighteen months gave me time to take each teaching off the page, into my body, into my daily life, and understand it from the inside out. To sit with something difficult, return to it, and let it genuinely change me.

The Philosophy & Inner Life of Yoga Non-dual Tantra, the eight limbs of yoga and the philosophical foundations that give practice its meaning — studied with Zeenat Cameron. This is the why beneath everything we do on the mat.
The Body — Inside and Out Anatomy, somatic movement, fluid and organ awareness, whole body movement, the nervous system, navel radiation and moving meditations — with Fabiano Culora. Understanding the body not just as a structure to stretch, but as an intelligent, feeling system to listen to.
Trauma Sensitivity & Inclusive Teaching Trauma informed teaching, diversity and inclusion — with Ella Mesma and Lara Heppell. Because a yoga class is not a neutral space, and a good teacher understands who might be in the room and what they may be carrying.
Nourishment — Ayurveda & Sattvic Living Diet, daily practices and the ancient Indian science of living in balance — with Angela & Melanie. Yoga is not just what happens on the mat.
Sound & Vibration The use of sound in practice and healing — with Natalie Seagar and Amanda Winburn. Sound is one of yoga's oldest and most powerful tools.
Breath — Pranayama & Himalayan Kriya The science and practice of breathwork — with Amanda Winburn. Breath is the bridge between body and mind. Learning to work with it changes everything.
The Classical Practices Hatha yoga and Sanskrit — with Angela and Yogi Dinesh Ji, bringing the classical roots of the practice into living, breathing relevance.
Ashtanga The traditional primary series — with Joey Miles, one of the most respected Ashtanga teachers in the UK.
Yin & Restorative The slower, deeper practices that restore the nervous system and release the connective tissue — with Becky Hill and Lara Heppell.
Vinyasa Dynamic, breath-led flow — with Taylor Selby and Dan Porter.
Teaching Beginners How to meet someone exactly where they are — with Becky Hill. Because every expert was once a beginner, and how you are welcomed matters.
Pre & Postnatal Yoga Supporting the body through pregnancy and recovery — with Lara Heppell. A subject close to my own experience as a mother.
What This Means For You
Every class at Still Waters is built on this foundation. When I offer a hands-on assist, it comes from studied knowledge of anatomy and somatic awareness. When I introduce a philosophical teaching or a mantra, it comes from time spent sitting with those texts. When I create space for rest and deep relaxation, I understand why the nervous system needs it and how to guide you there safely.
